If you are unfamiliar with Pinterest, according to its site, "Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organizing things you love." If you ask me, Pinterest is a resource that allows users to gather inspiration and keep it organized.
So why am I blogging about it?
Pinterest is becoming an increasingly important player in higher education, so I decided to research ways to make SCC's Pinterest account more exciting and useful for our followers.
Yes, SCC has a Pinterest account. Yes, I get to spend time "pinning" during my work week. And yes, I love my job.
Anyway, while researching ways SCC could better use Pinterest to engage students and alumni, I started thinking about the how students could take advantage of the tools Pinterest has to offer. I came up with two boards that I think every college student on Pinterest should create.
Create a board dedicated strictly to your future career. It's amazing how much information can be found on Pinterest if you are actively looking for it. How are you going to find anything about your career through the mess of clothes, recipes and parenting tips? Start with the search bar in the top left-hand corner of the screen and narrow the search to your specific field.

Job Prep Board
Creating a Job Prep board is also important. It might help you land your dream job. Pin things like interview tips, résumé pointers and professional clothing ideas. When it is time to start your job search after graduation, you will have the resources you need right at your finger tips.
|Job Prep boards are very popular on Pinterest.|
I also suggest spending time on industry blogs and websites. From there, you can copy the URL of an article that looks interesting and add it to the appropriate board. Genius.
